Yesterday I started with the notion of jumping off a fucking cliff, then I thought ‘never mind’ cause I still had to close out a few things first. Being at work for the most part, lately, has me leaving at five o’clock feeling like a piece of shit. The only reason you haven’t sen me become famous on some random CNN newsreel is because of my ‘musical therapy,’ so I’ve indulged in ragged snares, sharp drum kicks, and some stale hi-hats… forming my own opinion about where heaven is; all of this totally irrelevant to most people who live normal unartistic mundane lives.
After work, I showered the feeling of worthlessness off and put on some clothes that my personality and inner John John could feel, gassed up the spaceship and went over to meet Grip, who met Pablo, who started the 1st day of out video shoot. So many ideas were flying in around in my simple, one-track recording mind and we began to etch out the backbone for what will end up being our first music/video montage of stuff that your girlfriend will like.
From there I did 65mph all the way down to In4mation and got up with my peoples, HNZL (see link to the left) and ultimately damn near every person I knew, he knew. It was cool to be around some familiar faces. The sake was cold and the gallery… well, hot as two porn stars fighting over Kanye’s “Get Right for The Summer Workout Tape, Vol.2″ so people we in an out chilling and catching up. Not only a good opportunity to see some good art… but to ‘catch up with shortly you aint seen in a while.’

Last leg of my “Tour de Chinatown’ was The Loft. Lafa Talyor and the Dub Hop Quartet… I think a lot of people came skeptical, but the dude rocked a good (though very lengthy) show. Dope nonetheless. I think we even broke out the 1992 dance moves. Go go go go go go go go! It opened up with Bless + Mems on the 1′s and 2′s. The only thing I was displeased with, is that hindsight of seeing a lot of my comrades get up, I’m sometimes left with the feeling (more often than not) that very few people who get up still look at it as a privilege. I think some people almost feel entitlement. Not to take away from nobody’s hustle cause that aint me, but when cats come to Hawaii from out of state… local artists should be on their A++ game. We should be making it hard for anybody to follow up. That’s just my opinion and I will drop the bat… (won’t beat a dead horse… lol) ‘drop the bat’)). Admit it; that was good word usage. Two points for me. Chee.
Lafa Taylor got up with live band in tow and killed it. He came like he wanted to prove a statement. Not sure how many people heard of him, however I’m sure some of the local pop will be checking for him now. Even saw some of the groupie chicks buy some merch off of him, so that’s always ‘food’ to see a homey make sell. All in all yesterday was a good day. A lot of moving around from place to place… didn’t get to see my friend, but maybe today, it’s all good. I know it got late.
I made it home from town successfully, didn’t even doze off, though I almost got hit my some sleepy dude driving this red little VW from ’89 – had killer tunes playing the car. Not new stuff tho; some Dwele, “Makings…” and also had the Foreign Exchange, “Leave It All…”
Today… still very much ahead.
